Don’t be left out, get your 30 seconds

Do you want to be seen nation-wide during the NCAA Division I men’s basketball national championship?

Well, you don’t have to buy Final Four tickets to do it. Just film (or take a photo) yourself supporting your team (in this case the Fightin’ Texas Aggies) and upload it at TasteTheMadness.com.

Taste the Madness web site. Upload your videos and photos here.

So where does the national championship come in to play? The best entries will be selected by judges and your video or picture (and for that matter your team) will be a part of a Coke Zero “vignette” that will air before tipoff of the national championship game. The winners will also be uploaded to ncaa.com.

So if you want to get your team some quality face time before the national championship ,especially if your Aggies are playing in the game, get out and let the world know how much you support your team. Show the world all the great things about Aggie basketball and its fans.

Leading off

Well, here we go.

This is the first official post of the first official Battalion sports desk blog. I am officially the sports editor of the Batt, Brad Cox.

The purpose of this blog is to give the sports desk a voice in this ever growing blog world of ours. Mainly you will be hearing from me though I can see beat reporters chiming in as we get used to the whole blog thing.

The main drive behind starting the blog was next week’s Houston College Classic baseball tournament. The No. 1 Texas A&M baseball team (as ranked by Baseball America) will be facing top 10 opponents UC-Irvine and Rice in the tournament and yours truly will be making the 90 minute trip to cover each and every game. Be sure to log on and check for my thoughts from the game, particularly the games the Aggies will not be playing in that I plan on watching. A schedule will be posted later this week.

This blog will also serve as my soap box of random sports thoughts. In the Battalion I am limited to local coverage and commentary and this blog will give me the opportunity to chime in on a wide range of sports topics from professional to little league.

As you might have been able to tell from the picture in the header (with difficult to read text that I’m trying to fix) I am a baseball fan and many of my thoughts will be on baseball, but I will try to keep an open mind and keep all sports fans interested in reading this blog.

Thank you for reading this first official blog post and hopefully you will continue to read in the future.
